Our board has decided that an annual background check will be required for every adult who will be working in a co-op, barter or paid position at EE. The background check must be submitted prior to the first day the applicant will be working with children. Even co-op parents who are not in a position of direct contact with students will be required to submit a check since co-op workers could potentially be called upon at any time to step into a position with child contact.

MyBackgroundCheck.com is the service we will be using this year to screen all teachers, co-op staff and volunteers who will be working with our children. This service allows our families to enter their own personal information privately, and keep their information private. Our office staff will not be responsible to handle the applications, enter personal data or store personal information. Our office staff will be able to see the results of screenings, but personal information such as social security numbers will remain blocked from view. Applicants will also be able to see the results of their own background check, and even print the results so that they can be used for other purposes such as applying for a job or volunteering in other organizations.

Please note: We are asking all staff and volunteers to pay for their own background check this year. The cost is $15 per person. Since we have chosen not to collect a family membership fee this year, we feel it is a fair request to ask families to absorb this cost.
